DDR3 Memory

DDR3 stands for double data rate type three. It is the successor of DDR2. The main advantage of the newer DDR3 over DDR2 is that it is capable of more bandwidth and is able to send twice as much data as DDR2 in the same amount of time. So, would it be worth the upgrade? Well, a lot of factors need to be considered before buying DDR3 RAM. This is because, if you only want to change the RAM and not your entire motherboard, then it is not possible to do so. DDR3 RAM is not compatible with any of the older versions of DDR.Few things you need to check before you buy new DDR3 RAM are:a) Do you only want to upgrade your RAM?In this case, you are better off buying DDR2 RAM or whichever is compatible with your motherboard.b) Do you want a full upgrade? If you want to change to DDR3 RAM, you may have to purchase a motherboard with DDR3 compatibility. If you can afford a full upgrade, then after having changed the motherboard you can expect to see a considerable performance boost.
